About the Maker

Meredith's path to the wood shop includes extensive education in design complemented with two years of hands-on skill building. She began in the architecture studio where she earned a bachelors degree and acquired a great appreciation of design's role in the feeling of comfort and identity in a home. She has since graduated from the North Bennet Street School's renowned furniture making program where she gained the skills necessary for building high-quality, long-lasting furniture.

Her design philosophy goes beyond form-follows-function and strives to harmonize the two aspects of a piece as much as possible.  Using time-tested joinery techniques and acute attention to detail, Meredith strives to build furniture that feels natural and contemporary while honoring and incorporating traditional forms and innovations.

She lives and works in Durham, North Carolina.

Also, the chair will get refined and slimmed down once all the joinery is done. #chonker
A little mash-up of the very first plant stand design, which had a concrete top but was too wobbly, and the later design which is much sturdier but typically has a glass top. Pouring concrete is not my profession as you may notice but the little hole
I've spent the past week basically timberframing these eave brackets (or corbels) for a house in Durham. They're made of 5"x5" wet cypress and there are 17 of them. I'm completely exhausted but banging in those pegs made me feel pretty hard
Time to fit the doors on this sweet little shoe bench.

Some professional shots by @megapixie (😘) of the nightstands I built earlier this month. These join a collection I've been building of similar pieces starting with the North End cabinet I did in school. It's been fun to work similar elements into se
